Subject:
A very important, though shocking collection of images
Although engraved from the 1820s onwards, the events or impressions recorded refer to things that happened in Spain 200 years ago. Thank God there is peace in Europe today, but the atrocities depicted by Goya still happen daily in many other places. Homo homini lupus! The lessons of history are the hardest ones to learn and most easily forgotten.
There are some underlinings in the introduction but the quality of the reproductions of the engravings themselves is adequate. Some of the engravings are better known, but it's great to have the entire collection in this book.
